The diagnosis and treatment of testicular cancer is one of the primary specialties of the Urology Center at USC Norris Cancer Hospital. As a referral center for high risk and recurrent cancer patients, our expertise has allowed us to offer much needed hope in certain complex cases.
Testicular cancer survivability is on the rise. In fact, if caught early, testicular cancer has a five-year cure rate of more than 95 percent. Although testicular cancer accounts for only one percent of all cancers in men in the United States, it’s the most common form of cancer in men between the ages of 15 and 34.
Depending on its stage, testicular cancer is typically treated with a procedure called a radical inguinal orchiectomy, which involves removal of the affected testicle so that a man may function relatively normally for the rest of his life. Other surgical or radiation therapy techniques may also be employed in instances when the cancer has spread outside of the testicle.
In addition, the Urology Center at USC Norris Cancer Hospital may provide you with access to clinical trials or other innovative and promising therapies that may not be available at other hospitals.
